Westfield Volunteer Fire Department Barbecue

The annual Westfield Volunteer Fire Department Chicken Barbecue is this Saturday, 4 to 7PM, at the Fire Station on East Street.

It is a great community gathering. Longtime as well as newer residents mingle and catch up on family news with their neighbors. Everybody enjoys the great food (chicken, corn, slaw, and pie) cooked and served by the firefighters. Meanwhile the kids get a chance to see the firetrucks and other equipment up close, and to meet real volunteer firefighters.

Barbecue season is definitely up! It's good that Fire Department is having their own barbecue and not just bursting into someone else's barbecue party that got out of control, lol! Just the other day, my mother in law panic and almost call the fire department when her son's barbecue caught in a really big ball of fire. He's a boy scout though, so we always have a bucket of water and fire extinguisher for times like this. It turns out to be a great barbecue lunch!
