If You See Pink Firefighters ...

From the Middletown Fire Department.
----------

The Middletown Fire Department in conjunction with Middletown Firefighters Local 1073 has jumped onboard for breast cancer awareness for the second straight year. The Middletown Fire Department will be wearing pink uniform shirts for the entire month of October. The fire apparatus will be sporting a different look as well. All of the Department’s yellow fire apparatus are adorned with pink ribbons. The City’s tower truck is also equipped with a banner that states: City of Middletown, “Care Enough to Wear Pink”.

Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States and affects over 190,000 women annually. While this is a devastating disease, there are over 2.5 million survivors in the U.S. today.

In the first year, the Department raised over $2,400 dollars for this noble cause. All proceeds were donated to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The Department and the Union would like to thank the Komen Connecticut, The Branding Company, the PAC Group and Sign Mart of Middletown for their support and donations.

Pink t-shirts may be purchased for a donation of $20 at Middletown Fire Headquarters, 533 Main St, or at Malloves Jewelers, 404 Main Street in Middletown.

For further information, you may contact the Middletown Fire Department at 860-343-8004.
