Letter to the Editor from Ed Dypa

I am Edward Dypa, I have lived in Middletown for the past 54 years and have been a registered Democrat for the past 50 years.  I never voted a straight Democratic ticket, but voted for the candidate I felt would best serve the community.

Over the past years I have attended many Council meetings and came away upset and disillusioned with the oratory and passed resolutions.  Over those years I thought of changing my party affiliation which I finally did 3 months ago.  I was asked if I would consider being a Republican candidate for the Common Council and I accepted.

I attended the Council session this past Monday and Director’s session prior to that meeting.  When Water Department Director Russo was asked about the allegations noted in the Mayor’s press release; the answer was that it was not his fault but faulted the Personnel Department, the Finance Department and the Mayor’s.   What surprised me was the Democratic Council member’s agreement demonstrated by them nodding their heads. In my opinion, it looked like a row of “bobble heads”.  In the private work sector, the buck stops with the manager. I guess that does not apply in the City Government sector.

I firmly believe that there has to be more transparency in the actions of elected officials, directors of city departments and chairpersons of boards, commissions and committees.
It’s time that the taxpayers have complete visibility of what is going on in the government that we elected and that we are supporting.

Eighteen years of a Democratic controlled Council and a much longer control of the Board of Education indicates “IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE”.  Vote Republican - Get That Change.

                                                                             Edward Dypa

You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

I hope that Middletown voters give him a chance to bring his knowledge to the council this November.
Ed Dypa would make a great councilman.

I Have known Ed for about 30 years. He is not a politician, he is a person committed to helping make the Middletown community a great place to live. He does not just think of today or getting re-elected, he learns from history and plans for both solving current issues and keeping middletown wonderful for all future generations.

Ed,

I listened to you at Mondays meeting now I read your letter. You seem to have A lot to say about water and sewer Department and what is going on. Ed please tell us where you get your Information from because I'm pretty sure you never asked any of the managers involved before you decided to shoot off at the mouth. I know the bobble heads you refer to asked questions. It is sad that we have people like you that want to be on the council. It seems that you and the rest of the Republicans just do what Seb and Deb tell you. Please get the facts before you open your mouth.

Dear ANON933:

Give me a break? Ed has done more on his little finger for this town then you have in your ill-fitted suit. It must be nice to have a relative give you a job? Mmmm. Once again who has something to lose in the matter? It's not the Republicans is it? They don't control anything and haven't since 1991 (CC) and 1965 (BOE), so one needs to really sit back and analyze where Ed is coming from. Why is he running? The money? No. The Glory? No. He is running because, as he has stated in the Patch he feels the Dems are not doing their jobs and Drew was against the senior center getting more monies. Dan said it on film at a meeting and then Tommy or Lisa texted him to cover up his words.

I think it would have made more sense to have Ed give Jerry the award the other night and not Drew. Did Dan ever eat there? Did Jerry ever yell at Drew like everybody else in Middletown? It's a rite of passage.

Reading all this feed back...why would anyone in their right mind would run for office. The two party system is tearing this country apart, from the white house to city hall. We all have good intentions but we get caught into the politics.
How about we do what's right for the community first.

I can't believe that the boards are tearing apart Ed, a wonderful member of Middletown and praising.. Watch this and you decide: Defending a show called "I did Your Mother" and saying it's okay to dress up like a Nazi.

Watch Video 1st!

Dan is defending this turky but he lets Teddy Raczka pull the plug on Ed during a public meeting. (Violation of 1st amendmnet)

He attempts to bully the Registrar of Voters around prior to the primary? I am done with Dan! He thinks it's okay for PUBLIC MONIES to be used to produce a college smut tv show? Thanks Mayor Dan!

I watched the entire YouTube video that Oliver Queen posted a link for, and I do not see anything improper at all. I think that Dan Drew and his colleague Peter Pietro were factual, right on target, and very articulate. They handled themselves very well especially being young college kids at the time and dealing with a national TV personality who is known for his aggressive interviewing style. It's more than a stretch to say that they stated it's okay to dress up like a Nazi. That is not what they said at all and that is twisting their words in a manner that diminishes the complexity of any discussion of First Amendment Right to Free Speech. I appreciate Oliver posting this because it helps illustrate how Dan Drew acts and speaks professionally and factually when under pressure.

Speaking well doesn't mean you can run a city of 47,000 does it. As Alan brought up he had no issue with the television feed being shut off at a board of education meeting. What about the right's of the speaker who was silenced. Why didn't Drew come out against that. I will tell you why, because it is a person in his party that shut down the public. If a republican had done that he would be the first person to speak up about it. So where is the consistency I ask.

I agree that Mr. Drew had very valid points. I also agree that he is very well spoken. What I do not agree with is his harassing the town clerk and registrar of voters, complaining that because the Democrats did not have enough moderators to do the primary election, not only should the Republican trained moderators not be considered, but that they should hold a special class to train additional Democrats. Not only was that ridiculous, as every trained moderator had already taken their classes, he then brought in to question the Republican moderators integrity. (Without cause I might add) I also have an issue with the fact that Mr. Drew blatantly stated that he doesn't care about the senior citizens votes and he was so against the new senior center. Lastly, I also have concerns as to why Mr. Drew was SO against parishioners of Saint Sebastian's Church being poll workers. I see Mr. Drew discussing freedom of speech, but his actions about stopping trained, accountable people from doing their jobs, because of religious and political affiliation, a little peculiar.

It upsets me that none of you know who you are talking about...Ed Dypa is running for Common Council and Ed McKeon is running for BOE. As far as both Ed's go...they have my vote. It's time for a change and before you start commenting make sure you have the right people. Mr Dypa has been a model citizen of Middletown for the past 54 years...how long has Mr. Drew been around? And as far as Drew being factual...anyone can be factual if they are being fed what to say and give people what they want to hear...for now that is.
